That's what I do. I just write. I write with dogs wrapped around my feet and sharing my office chair. Writers and dogs are a good combination.
I'm currently writing a mystery series about a young sheriff in Southern Indiana. Uncozy cozy, someone called them. Police procedurals. A touch of romance, always a murder, and a sprinkling of dogs.
I live on a dead-end street against cornfields. Quiet. A good place to write. There's a yard that's great for tossing tennis balls.
I'm also an avid gamer--boardgames, Dungeons & Dragons. Sometimes I write fantasy filled with dragons and barbarians. Those are my writing roots.
Hope you enjoy my novels and short stories. I am going to keep writing them ... with dogs to keep me company.
I've written in the neighborhood of sixty novels and well more than one hundred short stories. I can't stop.
I picked up an Ed McBain novel at an airport a long time ago. Fell in love with the 87th Precinct and decided I wanted to step away from fantasy novels and tackle mysteries.
It took me a while, but I came up with The Dead of Winter, a Claymore finalist. And I kept going. I've hit best sellers lists and picked up some awards.
Mysteries fit me fine.
My first novel was a Forgotten Realms tale called Red Magic. Evil wizards, a druid, a centaur, and it was a springboard to Dragonlance fiction, where I had the honor of playing for several trilogies.
Black Heart of the Dragon God with Craig Martelle provided another dip in the fantasy pool.
I think I should write another Goranth the Mighty tale.
I've delved into urban fantasy, too. Mostly by editing various anthologies through the past few decades. But I have a standalone urban fantasy called Pockets of Darkness. It was a finalist for the International Thriller Writers.
The Bone Shroud, which won the Soon To Be Famous writing award for Illinois has a touch of urban fantasy.
And there are a bunch of short stories.
Writers and dogs go together. I suppose writers also go together with cats. But my husband is allergic. So we over-boarded on the dog thing.
Missy is an old one-eyed Boston Terrier.
Hunny is a one-eyed Pug
Jolly is a Corgi with heart issues
Fable is a moose of a Lab
I love my scratch-n-dent pack
My newsletters are short and so won't clog up your computer. I try to include contests, some of which create characters in my books or choose the title of a book. Hear about other authors' books. And, of course, enjoy a picture or two of my dogs.
